  15. 1 can (10 ounces) tomato sauce
  16. 1 tomato cut into slices
  17. 1/4 cup full fat yogurt
  18. 1/4 cup heavy cream
  19. Salt and Pepper

  21. 1 tablespoon peanut oil
  22. 1 pound shredded chicken breast
  23. 1 cup garam masala
  24. Pinch of red pepper (optional)
  25. 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  26. 1/4 cup cold water

Practical instructions for making chicken makhani (buttered chicken).

  1. Heat the oil in a large deep frying pan over a medium heat. Add the onions and cook until translucent, about 2 minutes.
  2. Add butter, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, spices and bay leaf. Cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add tomato sauce and tomatoes. Cook for an additional two minutes.
  4. Add yogurt and cream. While the chicken is cooking, reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
